What is hump day? It’s Wednesday. The hump to your work week. 2 days down and 2 days to go. On hump days I will be sharing articles, videos, or other form of entertainment. It will include links to other posts I have liked throughout the week. Some are parenting articles, others are personal finance ones, and occasionally there will be a random funny article. Enjoy!

In 1961, Yuri Gagarin became the first person to orbit Earth. He rode aboard the Vostok 1 and this was almost a year before John Glenn would do the same (February 20, 1962). As a space enthusiast, nothing is more exciting ten the idea of flying in space. Yes, I find space more exciting then personal finances. In fact, I applied the last three times NASA called for astronaut applications and made it relatively far two out of the three times.
Every year on April 12th, Yuri Night is celebrated throughout the world. It is a night celebrating space exploration. So put on your space gear and celebrate tonight!
Hump day parenting
I am a big fan of Daniel the Tiger. I find it is a positive show that truly engages and teaches my kid new things. Here is a quick Q and A done with the creator Angela Santomero. It is not an indepth question session but I enjoyed learning more about the creator of one of my son’s favorite shows. Daniel the Tiger can even give adults tips, as I talked about in “Take a step back and breathe”.
Hump day finances
I am not much into investing in bonds at this time. In fact, I take the money I would invest in bonds and pay off my student loans (they are at approximately 3%). I figure it is a safe return on investment, similar to bonds. Here the Wall Street Physician writes a nice piece: Do not be fearful of the fed rate hikes, keep your bonds.
Hump day randomness
I may change this section up with occasional “Deep Thoughts”. These were my favorite bits from Saturday Night Live growing up in the 1990s. Jack Handy would always drop some knowledge our way. So here is some deep thoughts on how to trick kids.
My son’s second birthday is coming up this month. It amazes me how quickly the time goes by. Two years have passed and he is changing so quickly. He is a reminder of why we I am working toward financial independence. To provide opportunities for him as he grows up.
