What is hump day? It’s Wednesday. The hump to your work week. 2 days down and 2 days to go. On hump days I will be sharing articles, videos, or other form of entertainment. It will include links to other posts I have liked throughout the week. Some are parenting articles, others are personal finance ones, and occasionally there will be a random funny article. Enjoy!
On this day
In 79, Mount Vesuvius began stirring during the feast day of Vulcan, the Roman God of Fire. This volcano eventually erupted and destroyed Pompeii. Pretty wild but I suppose it left archaeologist with a great place to study ancient culture.
Hump day articles
There have been a lot of good articles this past week. Here are some that I found most interesting.
Mr. 1500 discussed how he learned to stop worrying about money. I have not quite figured this out yet, but am glad he has. I think frugality and flexibility, one of his first tenants, plays a huge part in being able to call it quits. So kudos to Mr. 1500.
The White Coat Investor had 2 good articles this week. The first was 8 things to do with financial independence and the second is 14 financial milestones worth celebrating. I have hit a few of the milestones but none of the major ones yet. Hopefully in the next 3-5 years I will get there.
My Money Wizard discusses how to get rich by building your own nuclear triad of income. Much like the government, it is good to have contingencies in place.
The financial buff gets into some exciting new for 2018 in his contribution limits update. Your 401k limits will increase, but unfortunately not your IRA limits.
Finally, from becoming minimalist, Joshua clearly explains how I feel about things. The memories are in our mind and not the possessions in lessons learned from intentionally letting go. We have pictures and a few other “heirlooms”. While they are nice, I definitely prefer the smaller items like my grandfather’s watch to the bigger items like paintings or rugs.
So there you have it. I am glad to see most of you still have your vision and did not burn those retinas by staring into the sun. Enjoy another week and we are all hopefully closer to retirement.
