Hump Day- September 6th, 2017
What is hump day? It’s Wednesday. The hump to your work week. 2 days down and 2 days to go. On hump days I will be sharing articles, videos, or other form of entertainment. It will include links to other posts I have liked throughout the week. Some are parenting articles, others are personal finance ones, and occasionally there will be a random funny article. Enjoy!
On this day
In 1620 the Mayflower departed Plymouth, England 102 pilgrims and about 30 crew members for the New World. This actually was not the famous Mayflower that brought pilgrims to Plymouth Rock, that would occur several years later.

I spent the better part of last week in LA for a course. While I had been to LA numerous times, I had never spent so much time there. It was quite nice and I could see how it would be hard to keep up with the Joneses there. Alas, now I am back in Northern California which is not that much cheaper, but definitely less showy.
Now onto some of this weeks articles.
From Ms. Montana, a nice explanation as to why she wouldn’t buy her wedding rings again. As a man who spent some dough on a fancy, custom engagement ring I could not agree any more. While we enjoyed the rings, our relationship has moved past the need for such symbols. I am not sure if we lost them, that we would replace them with anything of monetary value.
As a current California resident, I was happy to see an article from Crispy Doc about living in a financial toxic wasteland. I can’t agree more. While the taxes are aggravating, in the past weekend I canoed down the Russian River, hiked up a mountain, had a wine tasting, and went to a pool party…not that you can’t have a pool party in other cities, but the outdoor lifestyle here is pretty amazing.
Ms. Montana actually had a second great post this week. This time it was on Financial Samurai and discussed Adopting from foster care. My wife and I seriously discussed adoption prior to undergoing IVF to have our son. Now that we have had him, the discussion of foster care continues as a way to grow our family. It was a great post my Ms. Montana and I
There you go. Some simple, non-financial articles for the day. I did not expect Ms. Montana to make 2 appearances but when you are good you are good.
I hope everyone is getting the kids back to school. While my toddler is only 2.5, I am sure it is better sweet. There is the benefit of them growing up, doing their own things, and providing a little downtime for the parents…but, they are also growing up, doing their own things, and providing downtime for their parents. How quick they grow. Have a great Wednesday.
