Hump day – March 15, 2017
Today is the first day I celebrate hump day! What is hump day? It’s Wednesday. The hump to your work week. 2 days down and 2 days to go. On hump days I will be sharing articles, videos, or other form of entertainment. It will include links to other posts I have liked throughout the week. Some are parenting articles, others are personal finance ones, and occasionally there will be a random funny article. Enjoy!
Today
March 16th is a good day. For those of you not in the know, the Persian New Year is March 21st. This is the Spring Equinox and the time for most of the country to thaw (sorry North East, you guys are getting beat up today with the NorEaster 2017). Stay safe!
So on March 16th (the Wednesday before the new year) we jump over fire. Why fire? Well out with the old and in with the new. We get rid of the bad humors and get ready for the awesome up coming year.

So we have gotten rid of the bad today. Ta Da! I hope on this hump day you too jump over a candle or fire and get rid of the old going into the Spring Equinox.

Hump day parenting
Here is a Podcast on the Good Dad Project. It goes over How to teach our kids to win at loosing. It some powerful advice and something we have tried to incorporate into our parenting. Basically we encourage the trying and not so much the outcome (winning/loosing). I am enjoying hearing the interviews from the Good Dad Project and I suspect I will be sharing more with you all in the future.
Hump day finances
The reality of frugality by Millenial Legacy is a good take on an old problem. Keeping up with the Jones. Ryan lays down why his family chooses not to buy the bigger house on the block.
I admire his resolve even though I was not able to follow his wisdom in my own life. Intentional frugality is one road to freedom and Millennial Legacy lays it out for us.
Hump day randomness
This could have made it under the Dad post, but I thought it was too funny to pass by. A dad was giving a interview live on BBC about South Korea. He was then video bombed by his kids. Check it out and have a good laugh on hump day. Check it out here. Lesson’s learned?
- Kids are hilarious and unpredictable.
- Live interviews can be tough.
- Best thing we can do at parents is laugh at the unpredictability.
Final thoughts
Have a great hump day! Try and remember that the weekend is almost here.
Love this idea! I will look forward to hump days even more now than I already do.
I literally laughed out loud at the video. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Cody. It made me crack up too. More hump days to come and thanks for the support!
The South Korea dad video was hilarious. I’ve probably watched it 50 times in the last few days and laugh so hard I cry every time!
It is really incredible. Luckily it seems like they have a good perspective on life from some interviews that have come out this week.
